A11y is about the least accessible way of writing 'accessibility' possible. A-11-letters-Y is not enough information to go on unless you've already been primed to understand it. It's aesthetically (a11y) ugly, astonishingly (a11y) pretentious, and has just this awful whiff of artificiality (a11y) about it. In an age where machines will automatically (a11y) type entire words out for you using the shorthand is aggravatingly (a11y) lazy and unintuitive.
Quite frankly it strains acceptability (a11y). I don't think that this numeronym is being used appropriately (a11y).

Die Frau meines Rentner-Nachbarn (68) ist vor ein paar Wochen verstorben. Heute ruft er mich an und fragt, ob ich mir bei ihm diverses Geschirr abholen möchte, das er nun nicht mehr braucht. Ich also rĂŒber.
Er sitzt da mit seinem Renter-Kumpel (66) und trinkt Bier, zeigt mir all die SchĂŒsseln, Vasen etc, die er loswerden möchte. Ich suche aus und lasse mich noch auf einen Schwatz ein. Es geht hauptsĂ€chlich um Erlebnisse auf Baustellen, ein Schwank aus der Jugend nach dem anderen wird ausgetauscht.
Bevor ich gehen will, lege ich meine neue Visitenkarte auf den Tisch und vermelde, dass ich ab sofort unter meinem neuen Namen lebe und der alte nunmehr obsolet ist.
Rentner-Kumpel: "Ach, durch das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz? Das ist ja super."
Rentner-Nachbar: "Der neue Name ist ja auch schön - Àndere ich gleich in meinem Handy."
Und dann ging es einfach weiter im Text. Habe mir noch eine auf-der-Baustelle-herrscht-Helmpflicht-Geschichte angehört und bin dann mit meinen neuen SuppenschĂŒsseln und Servierplatten abgezogen.
Das war ein gar feines Erlebnis.

I did a four-page short comic for Le Lombard (Belgian publisher), it was a contribution to a big book project in French, featuring 24 other comic artists; an "advent calendar" book for Christmas. And yes, you have to cut the page every day in December to reveal a new story. I negotiated to have mine published on CC-By and made it using only FLOSS

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
in Ihrer heutigen Sendung behauptete Ihre Moderatorin Andrea Maurer, die Strompreise seien »gerade auf Rekordhoch«, und die neue GrĂŒnen-Chefin habe »die rosarote Brille« aufgesetzt.
Tatsache ist, dass (nicht nur) ich in den vergangenen drei Monaten zweimal eine Strompreis-SENKUNG durch meinen Anbieter erhalten habe.
Ich bezweifle sehr, dass das Unternehmen sich zweimal in Folge so gravierend tĂ€uscht, und halte es eher fĂŒr möglich, dass hier aktiv und dem ĂRR-Grundsatz der NeutralitĂ€t diametral entgegengesetzt in den Wahlkampf eingegriffen wird. GrĂŒnen-»Bashing« mag ja im Moment verfĂŒhrerisch »volksnah« wirken, hat aber im ĂRR nichts zu suchen.
