@soatok imo it's not about not understanding the language, but about an indirect assertion of knowledgeability and "superiority". It's a binary approach to the truth where either I'm right or you are and I have to prove that you're not. Everyone is an expert on some subject, just like the guy who tried to mansplain that signal is going to integrate "AI".

I spent a fair amount of time among German nerds and was never successful in winning any friends, exactly because of this attitude. Modus Vivendi does not exist here!

When I see such comments I always try to figure out if it's coming from a German and almost always it is 😅.

(Sorry for the rant, it's a sore point for me)

@pft @soatok as someone who works with Germans, can 150% confirm. And if they've decided they're right, then you have to try and disprove their assertion. Which will almost never succeed, no matter how much evidence you have. All you can do is let them create the disaster (which you will get blamed for not preventing.)

@soatok @pft annoying does not even begin to cover it. And because HQ is German, there is no winning at all. If it blows up, it's your fault. If it half-works for a week before blowing up, it's proof you're stupid and wrong. There's no point even trying to discuss anything.
